# 7156 Year 1
Team #7156
The Rookie Team #7156 began the season with all new members. Fresh ideas and energy abound, but there was a lot to learn. Design ideas began and the many robot iterations followed. The final design for the robot looked like a boot. Zip ties would sweep the blocks into the boot and then lift and flip the blocks backwards into the scoring basket. Once the final design was built and tested the team began to program the robot for the autonomous period. An infrared sensor was used to find the infrared beacon that was under a random basket. For a first year team, 7156 made a very effective robot. At their last regional qualifier in Tuscon the team was selected to play in the finals validating their hard work. The Alliance that selected 7156 also picked the veteran team 5661. It was fun to get to play together and even more fun to be on the winning alliance together. Winning the Tuscon Regional was the ticket for team 7156 to advance to the Arizona/New Mexico State Championship. At the State Championship the rookie team 7156 placed a respectable 12 out of 28 teams and had a great experience for their first year.
